  • 4 weeks later...

The first two days of the national team trials has begun and consists primarily of skills sessions and off-court sessions on health and performance. Scrimmage opportunities will be held on the evening on May 22 and the morning of May 23. After each scrimmage the roster will begin to be reduced.

Due to the number of athletes participating, the trials roster will be split into two groups for at least the first three days.

The 12 players for the 2015 USA U16 National Team, or finalists for the team, will be announced on the morning of May 25. The selected 12-member team will return to Colorado Springs for training camp June 14-22, before departing for the FIBA Americas U16 Championship to be held in Puebla, Mexico on June 24-28.

Here's to hoping Minden's Taylor Kissinger does her best and has a great showing this weekend and receives some good news Monday morning. The picture below is a shot of her making that extra pass in yesterday's skills session.

After the morning scrimmage the U16 roster was reduced this afternoon. Of the 149 players invited to the U16 tryout, 57 were cut and the roster now sits with 92 players. Most of the players that are going home now after the first cut are the younger ones that were invited to try out.  Taylor Kissinger is still on the roster!
