Illini Scouting Thread

Seems like they should have flown in Saturday morning/afternoon....their last game was on Wednesday.

Perhaps they should take us more seriously

I just missed Matt and Jeff talking about the plane troubles, and it sounds like Illinois team is still in Illinois. I guess they tried to take the plane that the Husker women flew to Illinois in

Rayvonte Rice is out. Leading shot and FT taker. Didn't turn the ball over. Dude was having a monster year.

Malcolm Hill was doing a lot of the same things.  He's threat 1a.

Threat 1b is Kedrick Nunn.  Both guys shooting over 40% from 3.

Illini are a 3 point shooting team...we finally have the personnel to guard against the 3 without being eaten alive inside.

Illini rarely turn the ball over...we've been doing better.

Illini aren't offensive rebounding...given we're one of the worst in guarding against that in the conference you might see them crashing the boards more.

Since they shoot from outside we shouldn't see a bunch of fouls.  They also don't foul too much themselves on D which always hurts us some.

They haven't won a true road game yet

So.... is Illinois here yet? Maybe they haven't won a true road game yet because they keep having plane trouble and walk in 30 min before tip.  ;)

Didn't Mizzou football do that one time a decade or so ago? They tried to fly into Lincoln morning of the game after plane trouble, had more plane trouble that morning, and showed up a few hours before kickoff? Something like that. As I remember it didn't go well for Mizzou that day.  ;)

Yeah, I think that's happened to Mizzou football a couple of times in the past 15 years... both Tiger losses in Lincoln.

  • 1 month later...

In our last meeting, it was the 2nd game after team focal point Rayvonte Rice was injured and we completely shut down this team.

Since then Aaron Cosby also was injured and both him and Rice were suspended for something. Rice came back 5 games ago and Cosby is going to transfer. Since Rice returned they have

Beaten Michigan at home in OT

Lost to Wisconsin on the road

Lost to Michigan St at home

Lost to Iowa on the road

Blew out Northwestern at home

They are going to be highly motivated to beat us as it's senior night and at 18-11 they are on the bubble. A home loss to a Nebraska team with a crappy RPI very well might kill their tourney chances. It's possible the crowd is somewhat thinned out by the 9 pm start time that makes driving from Chicago suck even more. However the Illini are promoting this thing with cheap tickets and pizza for students so the crowd is probably up for this one.

The Huskers have had a week to prepare for this game. Did they spend that time trying to figure out the answers to their offensive problems? Are they recharged enough to play the type of defense they've played most of the year?

The last time Nebraska won 53-43. We can probably score 53 tonight. Is there any chance we can hold Illinois under 60 at home?
