To be the best you have to play the best!

Geno Auriemma addressed the fans at Pinnacle Bank Arena last March 31 after his University of Connecticut women’s basketball team advanced to the NCAA Final Four by winning a regional title in Lincoln, Nebraska. Impressed by the show of support of Cornhuskers’ fans even though their team was eliminated in the second round, Auriemma closed by saying, “We’ll be back.”

UConn and Nebraska are working on finalizing a two-game, home-and-home series that would begin in Connecticut next season with the Huskies going to Lincoln in 2016-17. No contract has been signed as the schools work to agree on dates for the games.

“The fact that so many fans came out to the game even though their team had been knocked out says a lot about their fan base and how much they appreciate women’s basketball,” he said. “When you find spots like that around the country you want to go to those places.”
