Just a note to those reading the college hoops forum ...

Any transfers at semester would be eligible the day after graduation ceremonies of the fall semester next year, amiright?  Would he be a junior at that point?  He's played some this year already.

Eligibility commences for a mid-year transfer after classes are finished in the fall semester, IIRC.

This guy will have 2.5 years wherever he goes as he hasn't redshirted.  In other words, he could play the 2nd half of his redshirt sophomore season.

According to Robin Washut, we are interested. He seems like Walt Pitchford 2.0: explosive athlete who needs a year to hone his game. We have a shot if he wants to come back to the Midwest. His brother went to Kansas St.  Fake crystal ball guess is Wisconsin.

I forgot to grab the link, sorry, but the KC Star is reporting that Mizzou and KU are both interested and have reached out to Semi's AAU coach.  KU did not offer, apparently, coming out of HS.  He'd like to go somewhere that he'll have a chance to contribute to an NCAA tourney team.

Son, that place is Lincoln, NE.

He's the all-time leading scorer in KS HS basketball history, apparently?  From what the KC Star said?  Obviously, the kid must have some skeeelz.  And, at 6'8" and 230#, he has good size.

Ideally, I'd want a big big with whatever remaining ships we might have.  But, I'd take a Duke transfer in a New York minute.

OK, the imagination runs a bit wild here ...

PG --- Glyn Watson, Rivals 4-star backed up by Benny Parker

SG --- Terran Petteway, All-American candidate backed up by Tai Webster

SF --- Shavon Shields, All-Conference candidate backed up by Andrew White III, KU transfer

PF --- Semi Ojeleye, Duke transfer backed up by Ed Morrow, Rivals 4-star

C --- Could we please get a real, live, bruising big man?  Backed up by Walt Pitchford.

All three schools recruited Ojeleye out of high school, with Missouri and K-State offering scholarships. None of them made Ojeleye’s final list, which included Indiana, Oregon and Stanford. He also considered Arizona, Illinois, UCLA and Wisconsin.

Ojeleye told Scout.com that he will take a handful of visits and hopefully choose a transfer destination shortly after the spring semester begins. He said he has also heard from Wisconsin.

You may want to add Andrew White.  White is going to be damn good.

He's in there.  Not sure who would start between Semi and Andrew.  Like we need to worry about it until the kid's transfer papers come through.  But a fella can always dreamily speculate, right?

I checked and December 19, 2015 is a Saturday and would typically be the date of graduation. Semester transfers in the past have been immediately eligible from that moment.

Nebraska played a team in the last decade that had a situation like that in the non-conf & NU was his 1st opponent upon eligibility... I'll do some checking on that, I think it was a school on a quarter system as the game was still in November.

Jamaal Mashburn?

His jumper needs just a little tweaking although he seems to have good touch.  The comparison to Walter, beyond that, is a stretch.  This kid is stockier and beefier than Walt and seems to be a little ...  you might say "tougher."  If he's truly 6'8" and 230# or heavier, I'd say he'd possess perfectly good size for a B1G PF.  Plus he has an inside/outside skill set.  Has the obvious strength to body up to opponents and the speed and quicks to keep in front of them while guarding the blocks or out on the perimeter.

No clue whether we can get this kid or not, but I'd sure make room for him.  And, if we got him, I'd suggest his presence would cut into Walt's minutes a bit.
