My take on Ed Morrow

Today, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, were able to secure a commitment from a 4-star power forward thats plays for Simeon Career Academy, in Chicago, Illinois. The same high school that produced Ben Wilson, Derrick Rose, Jabari Parker, and a plethora of other stars from the city.

While everyone is excited that Nebrasketball landed a 4-star recruit, I am here to take my excitement to the next level. Ed Morrow is not only an excellent player, but he is a game changing player. I follow Chicago high school basketball very closely, and I have never seen the toughness that I have seen out of Morrow. I think that he has the potential, maybe not to the highest degree, but to make an impact at Nebraska, similar to the impact that Anthony Davis made at Kentucky. Davis was only highly touted as a senior, and made his impact felt while a senior, and at UK, and now as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans. Where I see the biggest comparison is Morrow is not going to come in and dominate the scoring column. That will be left to guys like Terran, Walter and Andrew White. Morrow is going to bring the toughness that the Huskers have been looking for down low. He is 6'7", but his wing span makes him a virtual 7 footer.

Morrow will make it extremely difficult for opposing teams to get anything down low. On the offensive side of the ball, Morrow will use his toughness, big body, and long arms to get to the basket with ease. He can score over anyone and finish at the rim with the best of them.

Bottom line, this is a guy that can come in and play right away. He is Big ten ready right now, and will only get better this season while playing with one of the best high school basketball programs in the country.

Aaron Gordon is a good comparison, however, there are big differences between them. Aaron Gordon is more of an athletic player who uses his jumping ability to score points and block shots. Morrow uses his strength and arm length to muscle guys up. Honestly, I cant think of an exact comparison. He is a unique player.

Highlight reels are nice, but has anyone here seen him play in person? What about his passing skills, court savvy, and ability to fit into a team concept? How many years can NU expect to see him on the court? Does anyone think he might be starting by the end on this year or are we being lured into exceedingly high expectations by our joy in having him finally sign?

Honestly after watching the Global Challenge games online, so seeing a couple whole games, he reminds me of a very young Dennis Rodman.  Physical and powerful but limited on the offensive side of the ball outside of inside moves and dunking.  He will be the enforcer off the bench next year and be the worm for Nu on the glass.  I wont expect a ton of points and expect most will come off rebound put backs.
