And can you image if Petteway does come back for his senior year and you have Shields, White, Petteway, and Pitchford all in your starting lineup.

Dare we say, potentially Morrow too?

I dont see him starting in that rotation though.  He would get a lot of minutes off the bench but that'd be the best starting lineup in a long time at NU.

Do we need to have a new thread on the Huskers' starting lineup two years from now?  Or will this thread due?

PG  Tarin Smith

SG  Tai Webster

SF  Andrew White

PF  Shavon Shields

C   Walter Pitchford

That's actually not a bad lineup from what I can tell right now.  Should frankly be as good as or perhaps even better than we were last year.  Losing Petteway to the NBA hurts but will happen eventually.  Glad we had him for two years, yeah?  I'm betting that Smith as a soph is better than Webster the freshman.  I'm betting the Webster the junior is better than Gallegos the senior.  I'm betting that Shields and Pitchford as seniors are much better than Shields and Pitchford as sophomores.  And I'm betting that White as a junior can hold his own with Petteway as a sophomore.  If I'm right, we should be looking at at least three straight trips to the dance.  Yay us!

Someone who installs cable in athletic dept dormitories (or knows someone who does) please inform us all when AW III gets to campus.

And someone in admissions, for gawdsakes, PLEASE make sure he checks the box that says English is his primary language.  If one of yous guys screws this one up, I'm not responsible for what I might do.  Just sayin.

I would imagine that since he's presumably a student in good standing already at KU, he's probably going to breeze through admissions at Nebraska.  :D

Do they have internet access in jail Norm?

And we would come visit you on Sunday's so we could recap the Husker's week.

If Ed Morrow committed to NU, grew to at least 6'8.5, and added a lot of weight before the 2015 season, i could see him as the center

PG: Smith/Webster

SG: White III

SF: Shields

PF: Pitchford

C: Morrow

Don't forget Hammond...and don't forget Petteway.  He may be back simply because he believes that he can lead us to the promised land.  And oh by the way...I believe he could as well.  I am not sure how to define promised land, but it is certainly not one and done in the NCAA tournament.

If petteway comes back next year you're talking EXTREMELY deep with some serious talent that isn't young.  We'd all be geeked out and giddy to put it mildly.  our 8th or 9th guy would be someone similar to defensive specialist benny parker.  that's obscene.  he could give 15 minutes of "in your face" defense that pretty much nobody in the B1G that I can think of could match.

think about that for a second.  that's a guy who's been proven capable of shutting down some pretty good guards in the B1G.  And he'd be 8th or 9th off the bench.  he could go after people with no fear whatsoever.

Keep in mind I still feel benny might surprise some people this year again though... i think webster has taken some steps forward, but we shall see.

truthfully, what we would need in recruiting next year is a couple guys like morrow... or a transfer like moses.  we need the depth in the front line.

If Petteway stays for his senior season, then I would love to see this as the starting lineup:

1- Petteway (6' 6")

2- White (6' 7")

3- Shields (6' 7")

4- Pitchford (6' 10")

5- JUCO or Grad Transfer rim protector (like Ayegba)

That puts 2 guys on the floor that can get to the rim (Petteway and Shields) and 2 guys that can shoot well from outside (White and Pitchford), so Petteway and Shields can kick it back out to them. Then a Grad Transfer rim protector that they can all dish the ball off to for easy baskets.

This would be a wicked defensive unit as well. With all of that length on the floor, they could switch virtually all screens without getting caught in a mismatch and with all of that length they could really affect passing lanes.

If Nebraska can't land a Grad Transfer or JUCO rim protector like Ayegba, then this would also be an interesting starting lineup (although it would be ideal to have Pitchford playing the 4-spot, which is his most natural fit):

1- Webster

2- Petteway

3- Shields

4- White

5- Pitchford

There's another announcement coming fairly soon. Not player related, but on the personnel side. It's kind of interesting.

Good interesting or bad interesting.

I think we're full on staff.

I'm going to go 60% on someone leaving, 25% on someone moving to a different position, 15% on Miles coming up with some sort of new position, and .0001% on new defensive coordinator Carl Pelini.
