Article linked on another message board that I found today and thought was kind of interesting:

The higher-education wealth gap is growing—not just between those who do or don’t have college degrees but among colleges themselves.

The coffers of the nation’s 40 wealthiest universities, including Harvard University, Stanford University and the University of Michigan, are filling at a faster rate than those of other schools, thanks to particularly strong investment performances and generous donors, according to a report to be published Thursday by Moody’s Investors Service.

(spoiler alert, NU is among the 40 schools listed - and what I found interesting is not so much who was on that list, but who wasn't...)

Yeah the B1G had a strong showing on this list (Iowa, however, was absent).

Essentially the list was comprised of the top 20 private + top 20 public schools from an endowment standpoint, so from that perspective, the B1G (which had 10 representatives on the list - 9 of which are public) and U of Nebraska did well.

If you wanted to get technical, you could also include U of Chicago (CIC) and Johns Hopkins (CIC and Lacrosse) as B1G members and claim 9 of the public spots and 3 privates.

Which should indicate how important B1G membership is and will continue to be for Nebraska regardless of benefit to the athletic department.
