KNTK - Drop the Mike:  Huskers land a QB for 2016 class/Tim Miles gets transfer from Louisville

http://www.theticketfm.com/podcasts/morningtake/2015_05_06_1.mp3

(18:37)

Mike Riley landed a commitment for the 2nd straight day, as Oklahoma 3-star dual-threat QB Terry Wilson committed to the Huskers yesterday, becoming the first recruited QB of the Riley era. Jake and Lanny think he has potential to be good, and wonder if he is the ideal type for what Riley and Langsdorf want going forward for QBs. Also, Tim Miles picked up Louisville transfer Anton Gill yesterday, a former Top-50 recruit in college basketball. Can this give the team some needed momentum for the rest of the offseason?

KNTK - Drop The Mike:  Brian Rosenthal (Nebraska Basketball Writer, Lincoln Journal-Star)

Brian wrote a piece about Terran Petteway getting ready for the NBA Draft, is there any chance he returns to Nebrasketball if the NBA combine goes poorly? Does Terran believe he will be taken 1st round? Nebrasketball lands transfer Anton Gill, what will be his role? Should Tyronn Lue be the Cavs head coach?

KNTK - Morning Take:  New assistant coach on the way for Nebrasketball?/2-minute drill

(11:07)

Several reports say that Florida assistant coach Rashon Burno could be headed to Nebraska to replace Chris Harriman on the staff, who left for New Mexico last month. Jake and Lanny think that anyone who’s had tutelage under Billy Donovan is a good place to start looking for an assistant coach.

KNTK - Morning Take:  Nebrasketball gets Rashon Burno as assistant coach/No transfers for Coach Riley

http://www.theticketfm.com/podcasts/morningtake/2015_05_15_1.mp3

(18:37)

The speculation ended yesterday, as multiple sources announced that Florida assistant coach Rashon Burno would take the same position at Nebraska and fill Chris Harriman’s spot. Jake and Lanny wonder if he can bring 4-star forward Noah Dickerson with him. Also, Mike Riley says he doesn’t believe anyone is transferring from Nebraska, per his knowledge. How important is that continuity for building success?

Shavon Shields Should Help Nebraska Basketball Forget About Last Season's Woes - BT Powerhouse

http://www.btpowerhouse.com/2015/5/19/8618171/shavon-shields-should-help-nebraska-basketball-forget-about-last-season-2015

usa-today-8364916.0.jpg

Shields has been the captain of Nebraska since his sophomore season in Lincoln, which speaks volume of how much he means to coach Miles and the Nebraska program. He averaged 15.4 PPG and 6.2 RPG last season, and this season he will certainly be the go-to guy for the Cornhuskers. Shields is so gifted in the paint with he great footwork and soft touch, he is also a terrific mid-range jump shooter. Shields has also been a great defender, and usually he is always matched up with one of the opposing team's best scorer.

Without Shields, Nebraska would struggle next season and the program is very lucky to have such a talented player like Shields. He has truly been a class act during his time at Nebraska, and his leadership and skill-set could lead Nebraska to their first ever NCAA tournament win in the 2016-2017 season.

So, we had Episode #10 linked a few weeks ago on the "What Do You Get?" podcast (Leslee Smith interview) and I noticed today that Leslee wasn't the first hoops player interviewed there, Tai Webster appeared on this podcast a couple of weeks earlier (April 14th) and I don't think we got it put up here yet, so I decided to add this to the Media thread.  (Note, .m4a files aren't supported by the embedded player so you'll have to click on the link to play.)

Tai Webster is a Sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand and the starting Point Guard for the Nebraska Cornhuskers Basketball Team. He is the youngest player ever selected to New Zealand’s National Team and competed in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, where he played against Team USA. New Zealand got International attention for their pre-game ritual called “The Haka”, click here to see it!(Tai wears #15 in the video) Tai provides a spark for the Huskers on the court, and is just as entertaining off it. In this interview we talk about what it was like playing against Lebron James and Derrick Rose, his experience with racism in basketball internationally, what he thinks about Andrew Harrison’s comment, and his dream of getting to the NBA. To learn more about Tai, check out his full bio here. This week the music is from my friends Zach and Charles Weinert, together known as Greenhouse Lounge, two twin brothers based in Jacksonville, Florida. Click here to listen to more of their music.

Show Highlights:
4:04 - His experience playing for New Zealand’s National Team
9:20 - Tai’s explanation of “The Haka”
19:10 - What it’s like passing the ball to someone else with the game on the line
